Sally Bradshaw Scholarship
During the Associations 2017 reunion Don Bradshaw announced that he had established a college scholarship fund to honor the memory of his recently departed wife, and long time Wingmate, Sally. During, and shortly after, the reunion several attendees contributed to the fund which Don had designated for use as an award to be given to assist a deserving High School Graduate in financing of their college education. As with the 366th Fighter Association scholarship, recipients were to be selected by and scholarships awarded through, the Scholarship for High School Seniors program administered by The Officers Spouses’ Club and Enlisted Spouses’ Club of Mountain Home Air Force Base Combined Scholarship Committee.
This year, individual contributions to the Sally Bradshaw Memorial Fund facilitated award of a $1500 scholarship. The 2019 Sally Bradshaw scholarship was awarded to Mackenzie Niksich. Upon learning that she had received the award Mackenzie sent us this note:
Hello, and thank you! My name is Mackenzie Niksich and I received the great honor of a $1,500 scholarship from the Sally Bradshaw Memorial Fund. My future plans include going to Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in the fall of 2019. At MSU, I plan to earn my major in wildlife ecology and management with a minor in Spanish. This is all in preparation to become a future park ranger, hopefully in Yellowstone one day! I was born and raised in the small military town of Mountain Home, Idaho and have always been very proud to call myself a military brat. I experienced a lot of things growing up, and the one thing that military life has proven to help show me over and over again, is that resiliency is key. Even after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 14, I have always maintained a positive and resilient attitude, and I plan to take this forward with me in my college endeavors!
Thanks again,
Mackenzie Niksich
