The pilots involved in the action undoubtedly received recognition. At least one, 1st Lieutenant Iley C. Gaar received a Distinguished Flying Cross. We have been able to locate a copy of the General Order (676k) awarding the DFC to Lt. Gaar which describes a bit more detail of the action involved.
