In 1972, HQ 7AF assigned callsign "Chico" to the 421st TFS "Black Widows" F-4E-37-MC (68-339).  As a uniquely configured free-roaming and heavily armed strike-recce aircraft it came to be known as "Chico the Gunfighter".
